HABITS OR SKILLS THAT YOU PICKED UP AT COLLEGE THAT SURPRISE YOU (PART 2)

First and foremost, high school life and college life is very different in many ways. One of them is assignment or in high school term we called it homework. The different here is that the due date. During high school, the due date for homework was usually the next day or probably the day after, and that only applied if we had the subject on that day. If we didn't have the subject during that day, we didn't feel rushed to complete the homework.       However, it was really different when I began entering into the college which was I have to submit my assignments on the same day according to the given deadline. Sometimes, lecturers set a specific time, such as from 1 until 3 hours after they assigned us to complete the assignments. If I fail to do so, they won't record our attendance, even if we are physically present in class or attending online.     The habits that I have developed in here was that, I always prepared myself with every upcomin...

HABITS OR SKILLS THAT YOU PICKED UP AT COLLEGE THAT SURPRISE YOU

I believe that many of us like to study last minute, especially when there is an upcoming exam, because I am one of them too. I did study last minute, and I only gained a little information before waiting for the exam to start. When I got into this college, one habit that I developed here is studying earlier without waiting for lecturers' instructions, because they occasionally give unexpected tests at any time.     Without realizing it, when I started studying earlier, my mind became more prepare than usual and I didn't really feel rushed to memorize the notes that had been given. Sometimes, even if I do not have time to study on weekdays, I always make sure to study during the weekends because I don't want to waste my time on unproductive activities.     Besides that, I also have developed my study skills in reading notes. Lecturers sometimes provide slides with lengthy information, so I developed a skill where I focus only on the importa...

DEFINITION OF HAPPINESS WHEN YOU ARE AT COLLEGE

On 16 November 2025, the date I started to enroll physically in KPTM Kota Bharu . To be honest, before I arrived there, I could feel the nervous moreover when I had no friends that follow along with me to pursue their study in here. As all of my friends studied at another institution. However, that's okay since each of them had their own dream to achieve. So, am I.     After I finally arrived there safely, I began to gather up all of my courage to face with the person in charge of new student for November intake to obtain my student ID number and also my hostel room key. Then, after I have settled every compulsary thing to do, I went to find my room and there I started to meet my roommates. I looked them with awkward smile at first as we were arranged our things into our locker and tidy up our bed and here we didn't communicate much as we still felt awkward to approach each other.     A few days later, we began to know each other happily. I started to b...

MISTAKES THAT I MADE IN COLLEGE (PART 2)

This time, another mistake that I made in college is I didn't prioritize myself. It was not actually happening for the first time, but it had already happened many times. This mistake also happened during my high school era, and actually, I have always reminded myself to always prioritize myself first before I put other people. Yet, I still repeated the same mistake again until I felt regret. Even though the feeling of regret hasn't faded in me, I still gave the space to people to let them waste my time, although I have other work to do.      Back then, I thought that if I prioritized other people first in my life, it could give me some benefits, but ended up, I was wrong. I didn't get any benefits in return, and it only drained my energy physically and mentally. As a student in college, I felt it was more exhausting than during my high school era because after I stepped into a college I have learned that I can't let other people control our precious time as...

MISTAKE THAT I MADE IN COLLEGE

I still remember that one time, I had an online class with this one subject. I couldn't remember what the subject is, honestly. So, as usual, I did my routine, or if there is nothing I can do, I will just scroll up my phone, watching reels or spending my time studying a bit before the online class begins. I waited for my lecturer to instruct us to join their online class, and until this mistake started to approach me.     The mistake that day began when I clicked on the join button in Google Meet, and guess what? I couldn't join it. I panicked a little bit and realized that I hadn't connected to the internet on my laptop. Seriously, I had no idea how my internet connection was suddenly disconnected just like that because I thought I had already turned on my hotspot on my phone to connect it with my laptop. So, I didn't even think to check it twice.     After that, I went to check my phone, and it's right. I didn't turn on the hotspot button on my ...

CLASS OR LECTURER THAT HAS IMPACTED YOU SIGNIFICANTLY (PART 2)

I love writing because it gives me the space to write and express anything that I want, especially when I'm writing about my life such as writing it in the journal. But it's totally opposite with formal writing or any writing material that have their distinct instruction and rule for each of the paragraph and sentence. It's more like you can't freely write anything you want or in another words you can't fully follow your own writing style.   Sometimes this kind of writing makes my brain stuck to think on how to build a strong sentence structure and even made me spending my time for hours just to avoid any mistakes in writing. For instance, writing a letter or an essay from the given assignment. Furthermore, I also lack in writing the ideas without the elaboration running from the main topic.   After I've got into a class with my lovely lecturer, Miss Asiah, she has begun to guide and help me in HPC1043 - Writing Development 1 subject. I really like the way she...

TIMES WHEN YOU STEPPED OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE (PART 2)

Since I was little I am a very shy person. However, entering to a new journey in college has taught me to be more brave as I need to face with all kinds of people especially during the classes which is also requiring me to voice out my opinion with my lecturers and classmates. Honestly, the struggle was really hard at first but over time I finally manage to get adapt with it a bit. I keep encouraging myself to speak up and start to communicate with people around me although we just met because I believe that courage begins the moment you decide to try.  I chose to ignore every word that kept lingering in my mind, telling me to stay silent and avoid communicating with others and slowly, I started to step out of my comfort zone.   It all started after I got my room in the college hostel and which was also the day I got to know with my roommates and I began to approach them without feeling afraid and shy plus because my family were far away from me and if anything I could ...
